Getting a Hair Transplant can be life-changing. It can help you in looking younger while covering up your bald spots at the Best Michigan Hair Transplant center. However, you need to follow a set of instructions for your Hair Transplant surgery to be successful.

  • Avoid Lifting and bending

You should not bend over or engage in lifting things up to 48 hours after the surgery as it may lead to bleeding and swelling. The upper body should be elevated above the level of the heart at all times, especially during sleeping.

  • Avoid Alcohol

The consumption of alcohol beverages should be avoided for three days after the Hair Transplant procedure because it may thin the blood and cause bleeding.

  • Avoid Certain Medicines

Vitamin, Aspirin, Ibuprofen or Arthritis medicines should not be consumed within three days of the procedure because they might thin the blood and cause excessive bleeding. In case of a headache or pain, a non-aspirin containing medication should be used.

  • Avoid certain exercises

Exercises such as running, cycling, weight-lifting and games such as golf, baseball, and soccer should be avoided for a minimum of 3 days after the procedure. Exercising and playing before 3 days may cause severe bleeding, loss of grafts and intense swelling around the eyes.

  • Opt for swimming in salt water rather than chlorine water

Swimming in salt water is highly recommended after three days of the surgery while swimming in chlorinated water should be avoided for a week after the surgery.

  • Avoid touching the grafts

The grafts should not be touched up to 24 hours after the surgery. After the completion of this period, you can lather the shampoo in your hand and then apply it slowly to the grafted area as well as the donor area. It should be rinsed with cool water with minimal pressure. This should be done up to 5 days after the procedure. You can resume normal shampooing and mild conditioning after the 5th day to decrease the scab formation.

  • Avoid putting heavy pressure on the grafts

After exiting the shower, light pressure should be applied on the grafts with a towel to absorb the blood accumulated at the graft sites.

  • Avoid Scratching

Scab shall be formed by the graft sites within 24 to 72 hours of the surgery, and they may start falling off in 3-10 days. Hair is shed along with the scabs which are quite normal. However, you should not scratch the scabs because it can cause infection.

  • Use hair dryer in cool setting mode

The blow dryer should be used in a cool setting for the first 5 days after the surgery because the warm air can cause bleeding.

  • Look out for Pimple or bump

If an ingrown hair is appearing in the form of a pimple or bump, apply a warm washcloth or compress the affected area for 10-12 minutes up to three times a day. If there is no relief after three days, then consult with your surgeon.

  • Ice packs to the rescue

Ice packs can be used effectively to reduce pain and swelling. Do not put ice on the grafted site directly. Put the ice pack on the forehead for 10 minutes every hour up to 3 days. You can directly apply ice at the donor site in the area of the linear scar for 10 minutes up to 3 days. A gauze pad should be applied to the area first, and then the ice pack should be placed on it.

These instructions should be strictly followed for the success of the Hair Transplant. You can easily visit a Detroit Hair Transplant center and consult a surgeon to know more about the procedure.
